How I celebrate Halloween all year long!

The candy has been passed out, the pumpkins have been carved, the decorations are coming down and our frightfully fun costume creations limply hang lifeless in the closet – this is enough to spark all of the sad feelings that Halloween has certainly passed and we have to wait another year to revel in it’s delights once again. But fear not, that’s not the case! If you love something, you don’t have to let it go! So if you LOVE Halloween like me, enjoy it every day, week, and month of the year! This blog post is all about the ways I enjoy Halloween all the time. Read on for some ideas and inspiration to cure your post-Halloween blues:

WATCH SCARY MOVIES/TV SERIES

I am always watching something spooky. It keeps my spirit alive! I actually ended up watching “Trick’r’ Treat” for the first time this summer – which was a nice little taste of Halloween when the holiday felt so far away, Make it point to watching at least one new show or movie or your favorite scary ones at least once a week or a couple times a month.

Here are a few my favorites/ a few recommendations below:

LISTEN TO SCARY PODCASTS

I listen to spooky podcasts all of the time!  Hearing real ghost stories is my favorite thing to take a stroll to, entertain me while doing shores or chilling the in bath tub.

Here are the ones I subscribe to all year (and release new episodes all year as well!):

READ SCARY BOOKS

When you don’t feel like listening or watching something scary, let your imagination run wild and pick up a hauntingly good book! I just got a copy of Shirley Jackson’s “The Haunting of Hill House” since I enjoyed the new Netflix series so much. Visit your local library and check out some good reads for FREE! A couple of my favorite chilling books are:

  • The Lovely Bones
  • In Cold Blood
  • The Amityville Horror
  • The Girl on the Train
  • Dark Places

VISIT YOUR LOCAL ODDITIES SHOP/ANTIQUE STORES/ ESTATE SALES/ FLEA MARKETS OR ODDITIES FAIR

Antique stores and oddities shops have delightfully thrilling and chilling items on display and for sale all year! I find some of my favorite Halloween decorations at random times during the year. You never know what you might stumble upon and the hunt is an absolute adventure. The Oddities and Curiosities Expo will be visiting my town this winter and might be stopping a town near you to explore!

HOST A SPOOKY PARTY!

Have a themed scary game night, mystery night, scary movie night or costume party with your friends! Enjoying these things in the company of your favorite folks definitely helps as a pick-me-up when you’re feeling the post- Halloween blues coming on strong. My birthday is in April, about six months from my favorite holiday (last year my birthday was on Friday the 13th which was AMAZING), and I hope to throw a little halfway-to-Halloween birthday soiree!

CREATE AN ONLINE INSPIRATION BOARD ON PINTEREST AND FOLLOW HALLOWEEN BLOGGERS/INSTAGRAMS

Before I started this blog I myself followed year-round Halloween YouTubers, folks on Instagram and bloggers. They inspired me to start Halloween Head! Their content also always cheered me up and continually ignited that little Halloween flicker in my soul. It’s hard for me to list EVERY amazing Halloween content creator you should follow and keep up with, so instead I’m going to link you to Spooky Little Halloween’s Samhain Society (which I belong to). Here you’ll find a list of wonderful Halloween and horror content creators. Check out their blogs and social media profiles to stay spooky all year!

  1. Love your tips! I’m not a fan of scary/horror movies, but I always watch Hocus Pocus (and other favorites of mine) a couple of times during the year. Also, I’m loving all the amazing Halloween blogs (like yours!) that I’ve discovered through The Samhain Society! 🙂
